Canada-Saskatchewan Building Canada Fund – Communities Component (BCF-CC)

The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan continue to partner with Saskatchewan municipalities (with populations less than 100,000) to invest in local infrastructure through the Canada - Saskatchewan Building Canada Fund – Communities Component (BCF-CC). This program provides long-term funding for the construction, renewal, expansion, and upgrade or material enhancement of local infrastructure that is for public use or benefit. 

The second intake of applications, which begins on March 16, 2009, will commit the remaining available funding and no additional intakes of applications are planned under the BCF-CC program.  There will be two deadlines for submitting applications: April 17, 2009 and May 15, 2009.  Applications received by 5:00 p.m. April 17, 2009 will be considered in the first round of approvals if the application clearly demonstrates that construction will begin in 2009.  All applications received by5:00 p.m. May 15, 2009 will be considered in the subsequent round of approvals.  Projects with a specified completion date before March 31, 2011 will be given preference.

The BCF-CC is a project-based program wherein eligible applications will be reviewed and rated with all municipalities competing for funding.  Projects approved under the BCF-CC program will be cost-shared up to 1/3:1/3:1/3 by the federal/provincial/municipal governments.

For the second intake, two applications can be submitted by or on behalf of each municipality.  Rural Municipalities may also submit one application on behalf of each hamlet (organized or unorganized) within the Rural Municipality.

All applications for the above listed categories should be submitted electronically using the online application in the “Shared Information Management System for Infrastructure” (SIMSI).  User names and passwords were mailed to all Saskatchewan Municipalities.  If you have any problems accessing your user identification/password, or have any questions, please contact:
